Some things are far better apart,
Like the diamonds that are stars
Shining beautifully there on their own,
In the oneness of existence that’s here and all around
Some things can be hard to let go of,
Yet until you do, you can never be fully grown
All that’s held back from joining you together,
Will be free once more from this point right here
The freedom that comes in your oneness, is found even though your apart or near,
You do not not need him anymore
And you know this,
It’s time to let go; simply spread your wings
So often we can be held back and not understand why, we may be aiming for goals and dreams and something just keeps getting in the way or the same situation keeps re-occurring.
If you understand what I’m talking about here then you’ll understand equally how annoying it can be, especially when you seem to be doing all the right thing but something just keeps coming up to get in your way.
Just what is it that causes this?
The answer to this is often quiet simple, it is old worn out limiting beliefs that are stopping us from achieving our goal.
And why?
Well it is most often caused by some event that happened in the past where we have attached a story and subsequent meaning to it, which has then becomes a belief. This belief can either then empower us or limit us and for some time a belief usually will always serve us in some way, often as a form of protection. What then happens is that we continue with this underlying belief even if it no longer serves us, but we hold it to be true, because based on that experience and our perception we really believe it is.
The only thing is now this old worn out belief not only limits us but also affects our perception in many areas of our life and also in our relations with others. In any area we feel limited in some way or where there is recurring issues this is often the case.
After doing The Landmark forum a couple of weekends ago I came to realise some of my own disempowering old beliefs and have decided it’s definitely time to let them go. Most of all is that in the context of today these beliefs are quiet silly and not necessary for me anymore. It is only because they were developed from a young age, that this was how I perceived the world then and then unknowingly held on to it subsequently limiting areas of my life that I’ve been wanting to develop. When I realised this it was super empowering but I also found it humorous how I’d held on to some limiting belief patterns for so long (better to laugh than cry :).
To be held back from something I decided so long ago seems so absurd but we all are doing and have done this for a large majority of our time. We then effectively keep repeating our past in to our future and therefore limiting ourselves and hence why we also get these recurring situations even if we are focusing on something different, the belief will always win somehow.
When we discover our false beliefs and decide to let go of them we can create a whole new possibility rather than repeating old patterns or limitations that are no longer serving us. Its definitely one I’d recommend considering. What old beliefs could be holding you back from your new life of possibility?
There is no purely 'bad' or even 'good' state or situation, all that is is what you make of it. Because ultimately it is you that decides which course to take out of each moment, no matter what it is that happens.
Each of us has the strength and wisdom within us to turn any situation around and to see the beauty that exists within and all around us. No matter how your situation may be perceived by others, it is you that has the wisdom to decide.
It always comes down to our choices, what do we choose to see, what actions do we choose to take and with the right wisdom, courage and compassion, in trusting the path that you are on; you can be sure that it is the right one.
If we know we have achieved something once and therefore we have the ability within us. If we have come from a certain empowering mindset before that made a real difference to ourselves and others, then why not consciously choose this each day and more.
Too often we can forget our cause or what were really capable of when we try and the even greater thing is, there’s this and far more.
Remembering our cause and the difference we want to make is just the beginning, what if we choose to always come from this place. What difference can we then make?
To always know everyday you give your highest and your best, to make the most difference for the highest good of yourself and others. What if we make this choice in each and every moment, every day ?
The question of what impact do I want my life to have today and in the future often occurs to me. When I ask myself this question it allows me to check back in on whether I’m living purposely in that day or not. The above video is a great reminder of living with this spirit.
I find there is the potential otherwise to waste time on things that may become of far lesser importance when were to look back on them. In this way I can aim to be living in each moment and there for those who are around me. In essence it is a sense of coming from a point of what really matters most and then living from there.
In the below guardian article titled the 5 regrets of the dying, Bronnie Ware an Australian nurse documented the top 5 regrets of patients in their last days. The top 5 she recorded were;
1.) I wish I had the courage to live true to myself not to what others expected of me.
2.) I wish I hadn’t worked so hard
3.) I wish I had the courage to express my feelings
Knowing these regrets of the dying can really get us to reflect on living a full life where we do not waste our time on things that ultimately don’t matter so much. For all of us it can be slightly different in what we perceive to be most valuable, asking the question what will we want to leave behind is a really good way to understand these, what will be and is most important now? Is it money, the people in your life, the experiences you have? What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind. By knowing the answer to these questions we can then proceed to live as much of our days from these values. Some questions I find good for reflecting on this are;
How do you want to be remembered?
What do you want to leave behind?
How can you create the most value today?
If we live from this place in every moment we can be sure to be on purpose, living without regret and knowing we’ve made the most difference possible with our lives ❤
Live from the heart
Live from the heart in all you do
Live from the heart as though everyday could be your last
It’s not the love that causes the pain,
It’s the expectations that we lay
It’s the thoughts we put upon another
The dreams that we expect them to cover,
Yet real love holds no boundaries such as this;
It is only a state of pureness
As free and open as the sky,
Accepting in all as it is
Today has been an amazing new years day, looking forward to new goals and beginnings whilst continuing on projects over from last year too. I always love new year because of the energy everyone has with the potential of what we can be and become.
It brings alive the field of possibility in knowing that we can change habits we no longer need and become all we want to be, it’s often just maintaining this energy that can be the challenge.
That’s why I believe its so important to have this focus of what is possible consistently, to always be searching for new ideas and opportunities. To treat every day as if it is a new beginning just as we do at this time, because really it is. Everyday and every moment is a new beginning and anything is possible when our view expands enough to see all that is available to us.
The only thing that ever limits us is ourselves and our view of what is possible for us to do and when we focus daily on something that we may not have perceived possible, who knows what opportunities will come our way. I was a little disappointed at the end of 2014 that I had not achieved all I would like to have done but at the same time I know I have learnt so much. For all that is important as part of my journey and I achieved and experienced things that I never could have planned.
Most importantly from 2014 I learnt;
To always, always trust my intuition
The value of true friendship
The art of allowing
The beauty of acceptance
New fields of possibility I never knew
That any perceived obstacle can always be transformed in to an opportunity
The importance of expressing my truth and passion even more
New learning as well as achievements are all part of our journey of growth and the beauty in life, we never can fully plan everything. We can however be sure that when we go with the flow towards our goals we will be heading in the right direction.
‘The Alchemist’ by Paulo Coelho is a perfect example of this, and in the end it is always about realising our potential and surprising ourselves with possibilities we never knew we could find.
I’m determined even more this year to be open to all new possibilities and opportunities whilst on the journey to achieving my goals which is why this year pubic speaking and any opportunities in this area will be a big part of my goal. Please watch this space for video uploads 🙂 I wish you all the best success and lots of wonderful opportunities on your journey this year too. Happy New Year to you 🙂 Lets make this year amazing.
