A Throwaway Culture for Relationships?

Throwaway culture

Our world is becoming more fast paced by the minute and it seems along with the consumerist culture of products and pleasures, that people and relationships are being treated in this way more frequently too. In dating culture it has become very obvious, from how we can pick and choose someone based upon their appearance alone to how many just wont stick around with someone any more if they don’t quiet meet the checklist.

In some ways I think this may be a positive but it can also go too far. It can occur in friendships as well as relationships, I’ve recently had personal experience of this with such people and situations where after making one mistake or doing one thing that doesn’t meet their needs alone, they will just drop you like a ton of weight.

It is understandable if situations occur where someone goes too far, we need to be clear with them to not do the same again. However we are all only human and where is the depth and realness when people are marked off a checklist and treat like a consumer product. The deepest and best relationships come when we truly see the person and love and accept them just the same. This is how we can be with family and those closest to us, to have truly valuable lasting real-ationships, we need to see others as their whole self too. Unless of course we are happy with a surface relationship that has no passion, depth or bond.

Maybe products today are not made to last but as people we are not made to be thrown away, we are here to love and be loved as a whole and as we are. This is the kind of relationships I now seek, ones that are real, where others are themselves and I can be too. Because of this I know I too have to be vulnerable and drop my checklist, choosing to see anyone I know and meet as whole person worthy of love and acceptance no matter what.

As for the actual products in my life I always try to keep them as long as I can and recycle (but I am not so attached to them). The people that are in and come into our lives are not material objects but feeling beings, so in knowing this myself I choose to be open and receptive to this, to all the beauty in each person and not just someone who is there to tick my list. I would hope in this I can bring far more to others and that the relationships in my life will be far more real and enriching. As for the consumerists I’ll let them continue shopping 🙂

I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this too, have any of you experienced this or is it something you’ve noticed happening? Do you think it can be a positive at all or purely a negative for our relationships and in how we treat people?

Thank you for all your realness, loving and feedback as always 🙂

Wholeness

We live in a beautiful and unique world, yet we are taught to see in opposites and labels. Each of us are all unique, yet bombarded with labels and judgements which we then take upon ourselves from a very young age.

In recognition of World Mental Health Day yesterday I wrote this poem to acknowledge how we are all whole and beautiful just as we are. Each worthy of our own love and acceptance as well as others just because we are who we are, no more.

Wholeness

Our tears are the rivers in beauty and flow
Our smiles are the joy that exists in all souls
We are whole , we are one
Were not merely light or dark,
We are whole, we are one, just as we are,
It’s not success or failure, but beauty in being,
Just as you are; as natures true rhythm

What is within

What is within can never be lost
What is within the heart will always exist,
Heart & purpose exist as one
For this reason your purpose always continues on
In knowing your purpose and knowing your path
Wherever it leads; just be there to serve

The Purpose of Resistance

Resistance

Why do we often have resistance come up when we set ourselves goals?
Is there any purpose to this and if so why does it sometimes have to be so difficult?

I often ask myself this question and at times it can seem unfair that the road to achieving goals can be really tough. Then I have to remind myself that the bigger the goal and purpose, the bigger the obstacles will be.

Why? Well the one way I understand this is to liken it to exercise training. If we lift measly little weights that don’t push us at all then we are highly unlikely to achieve our goal. We have to lift a weight that is slightly tough and out of our comfort zone and the same goes for any other goal. To grow in to the person we want to be, we need some resistance.

If we remember that resistance is there to help us grow it makes any challenges easier and if anything as with exercise we can begin to find these challenges fun. Really it is always about our journey and our growth is a main part. When we become too fixated on any end goal, this is when we forget this and it becomes harder. With this we can also then unintentionally forget feeling good and having fun in the process, so I figured that resistance is good as long as we don’t resist the resistance 🙂

Life is always training

Growth

We can not wish or hope for someone else to take our journey,
It is up to us to take action and win,
We can not hope for it to be easy, for then it will not push us on
To stretch ourselves is to learn and grow,
To be and become something far more than we are now

We need to keep on growing, to do this we need to push on
To push to be this person, this person we know we can become
So resistance is not to be scared of, but a challenge that we must take on
It will then be our greatest ally, once we realise it is there to help us win

Living at the Cause

357

I’m re- posting this as it was around this time last year and it serves as powerful a reminder right now of the importance of personal power, one of intentionally creating in each moment, every single day.

We all have far more power over our lives than we sometimes realise, it’s just a matter of choosing where our focus goes. A daily practice however always.

Much Love,

Miranda

Purest Soul

All open, all new
This beauty there in you
Your depth , your soul
The widest ocean, the deepest blue,
Such beauty there in you
The purest nature, the deepest soul
I see you, there as one
This pureness, this sparkling gold
Such wonder there in you
All around us; the purest soul

The Power of Kindness

ripples

How much of an effect can we really have?

I have always believed quiet strongly in the power of kindness but I must admit that recently I had become quiet disheartened about the level of effect this can really have and feeling despondent about the lack of response in my own efforts with others. I quickly then found myself being sucked in by negativity around me and the building up of it, no matter how I tried to change my focus this seemed to be taking over in all directions.

I found that when we feel powerless to change something this is when its hardest not to be taken over by the negativity, especially when its something that really matters to us. The war happening between Israel and Gaza at the moment is a perfect example. The sadness associated with it is something many of us are feeling right now and the question is, can we really do anything to help..?

In a world where we have many quick responses, it is something I think we have become accustomed to look for, yet the small actions we take can sometimes take years to have a full effect. Many of us want to help now and to make a big difference but I have realised that whatever little we can do and whatever ripples we can make is better than no ripple at all.

I have learnt through being on the receiving end of deep kindness, that the power it can have to completely change an outlook is one that can take someone that is ready to give up to someone that will do whatever it takes to continue.

It can be easy to get caught up in our own world and think we cant make a difference, but we do. That one smile, or one kind word or one pound donation can make the world of difference and I have rekindled my belief that the power of kindness is not limited at all, nor by any distance.

By knowing this and taking small actions to make a difference in anyway we can, each act create ripples that could continue way beyond us and even if we do not know about it we can be sure that a difference is made.

We only have to remember how those who have showed real kindness to ourselves and those we know have made a difference to us. It is not always about what we see, it’s sometimes the effect we do not see.

It also becomes not just about the effect but about the cause that re-awakens within us. Kindness in itself seems to act like a shield creating more joy for ourselves and those around us, the more kind acts we make the more effect we have, even when we do not see it.

I for one intend to use this shield of kindness far more and im eternally grateful to those who have shown great kindness to me when I needed it most. We all need kindness and to never forget to always be kind to yourself too.

Never forget this power you have within you
It costs nothing, yet creates something
Something so Powerful, So Transformative, Something far more than the eyes can see

This power that exists within you
Will transform the world, one at a time
This power that is within you is so limitless,
Limitless to all those you reach every time

Believe you make a difference, That you really do,
Each little kind gesture,
Means all the world to those you reach out to

Oneness

All beauty exists here and now,
Beneath all form of shadow and doubt
Beneath all fear and false pretence
Lies this beauty in complete oneness
This truth we can easily forget,
It’s who we are at the core of everything
We lose this knowledge when we focus on gain,
In greed and falseness that only lead to pain,
We cover this truth with all we think is beauty
Forgetting all we really need already lies within
Here is the source, our real true selves
All the beauty we need; all the real wealth

Let’s never forget all we really are ❤
