A promise

It can be hard to let go

When its become all you know,

When the feeling’s become so strong

That you’ve held on for far too long

Then you realise it’s all a test

So you can really be at your best,

So you can beat all that tries to mistreat you,

Then nothing more can ever defeat you

So when this pattern is finally broken,

It is a promise it will all be forsaken

~ M.L.Adams

All within

Sometimes you feel let down then you realise it was yourself

For nothing can be sought without first doing it within yourself

Nothing can be found without first the feeling have been found

That’s what the actions we take really demonstrate

For the outside is only a mirror of the inner causes in life that  we make

~ Miranda. L. Adams

Real Beauty

Listen and look,

Beauty is everywhere

This is what’s real

Just listen, look and feel

Use all your senses

To see what is true and real

Beauty is within and around you,

Its everywhere just waiting

For you to listen to look and to feel

Don’t hide or be afraid

From what is true and beautiful and real

Just open your heart and mind

Its within and all around you,

Just listen, look and feel

~ M.L.Adams

The Will to Win

If you want a thing bad enough to go out and fight for it, to work day and night for it, to give up your time, your peace and your sleep for it

If all that you dream and scheme is about it and life seems useless and worthless without it

If you gladly sweat  for, fret for and plan for it  and lose all your terror of the opposition for it

If you simply go after that thing that you want with all of your capacity, strength and sagacity, faith, hope and confidence and stern for tenacity

If neither cold or poverty, famish or gout, sickness or pain of body and brain can keep you away from the thing that you want

If dogged and grim you be size and beget it, with the help of GOD you will get it.

~ Berton Braley

I heard this poem recited by Les Brown at the recent Success 2013 seminar in London, I was really struck by it, not just because of the dynamism of Les Brown but also the truth and power in these words. Les Brown before finishing his speech with this poem told us all the story of how he achieved what he has to date. The words in this poem describe just how he did it, equally so for all those who have risen to the top and inspire us greatly. The journey they go through to get there, all the hard work and effort is often missed or looked over, we can then hold them in this higher or better place that seems unreachable, but actually through their words and actions many of these highly successful and inspirational figures are teaching us exactly how to do it and that with enough focus and persistence anyone can. Here’s to winning, believe you can 🙂

Words of Wisdom from an Icon

Classic wisdom and beautiful words..

davidnair's avatarWelcome to David Nair's blog

Beautiful, simple words of wisdom from a noble prize winner…. Mother Teresa.

I was going through the Biography of Mother Teresa, and could not go past this passage. Felt the need to share with those who would not have had the privilege of reading the works of this lady.

I found this little passage great to reflect on ….. Be enlightened, find inner peace & serenity, and hope it can help some out there in a similar way.

It is amazing how the switch takes place within each of us by the second. When we are well grounded with steadfast principles that we could hang on to  nothing will swing it either way. Enjoy the extract ……….

“People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centred ; forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false…

Heart or Mind

So often in life we are faced with this question;

Which one to follow; heart or mind

If I follow one what will I find,

If I follow the other will it be right

My heart says one thing and my head disagrees,

The environment pulls me away from my hearts need

My head says I have to, my heart say  I don’t want to

My heart feels a pull to; my head is pushed in to

Which do I follow, which one is right

Do I follow my head because I have to;

Or my heart because it feels so right

~ M.L.Adams

Heart or Mind? This can be one of life’s difficult questions, where at sometimes it’s easier to know the answer to than at others.
Which would/do you choose to follow?

Our Deepest Fear by Marianne Williamson

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.

There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.

It’s not just in some of us; It’s in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we’re liberated from our own fear, Our presence automatically liberates others.

~ Marianne Williamson , taken from her book ‘A Return to Love’

I love this poem because I think its so true and inspirational, so often we are own worst doubters. If we let go and trust and truly believe in ourselves then our true lights can really shine , nothing could be more true 🙂

Fear Growth

growth

Begin from a bud of fear

Into something far more clear

Use it to spur you on

It has held you back for far too long

Begin from a bud of fear

Then shoot in to a mighty roar

Make friends with this thing called fear

Then you willl never be scared of this anymore

~ M.L.Adams

Fear used to hold me back a lot when I was younger, now I see it for what it is and even though it still comes up I wont let is stop me instead I use it to spur me on. For anyone who struggles with fear , get out there and do it anyway. Face it and you’ll likely find great gifts on the other side.

Fear never has to hold us back, use it as your friend to push you on to greater and better things. Feel the fear and do it anyway, then you’ll look back every time wondering why you were so fearful of this thing that is now easy to you. Fear is just an energy created in our own minds , we decide how to use it. Never stop growing 🙂

Always Near

always near

Never gone, never lost

Always there, always one

Deep inside where you are

He is there all the time

Never gone, never lost

He is there to know your fine

Always one, always here

Know that he is always near

Shed your tears, let  go of your fears

He’s always here, keeping you near

~ M.L.Adams

In Memory

Today would be my sisters 33rd birthday if she was still with us. We lost her to cancer 9 years ago when she was just 23, 2 days before her 24th birthday. I miss her everyday but I know her beautiful soul lives on, This is a poem I wrote for her called Beautiful, as she was in every way;

Beautiful

You were so beautiful like a beacon of light

But you had such a hard life like the darkest of nights

I will always miss you for you were never afar

I will never forget you; you are always in my heart

Now I know you are in the lightest of light

Where nothing can hurt you and one day we’ll reunite

~ M.L. Adams
